Eleanor Oliphant isn’t an ordinary person. You could say that she is odd.  But like the title of the book – she is fine. Eleanor is contented with her life despite being alone and unlike most of us, she does not have any FOMO (fear of missing out).

This book is written in her point of view as we follow her routined life. As the book progresses, her life starts to change as she falls in love with a musician and believes that they are in love despite not ever meeting in real life!  Peculiar right? Eleanor’s secrets and memories slowly unveils and you start to understand her better, seeing how she confronts painful memories and invites better ones. Sometimes, you’ll feel your heart break yet moved by her inspiring story – hopeful for change.

In a way, this book speaks out to introverts and to anyone who feel that they do not belong. Ending this review with my favourite quote from the book.

“Some people, weak people, fear solitude. What they fail to understand is there’s something very liberating about it; once you realize that you don’t need anyone, you can take care of yourself. That’s the thing, it’s best to take care of yourself.”

Psst, there is word going around that this might be made into a movie! Keep a lookout.
